Strawberries!

Holy cow, it is absolutely beautiful walking into a strawberry field and picking strawberries in the morning sun. We have been strawberry picking for our local community the past few weeks. Starcat's mom used to go strawberry picking each year at a local farm, Doles Orchard in Limington. The orchard is family-owned and are some sweet people.

Anyways, Starcat, ElvenTiger and I went picking for Starcat's mom, aunt, uncle, and another lovely lady, as well as ourselves. Since Starcat's mom hasn't been able to do it this year, we offered to help her out. As barter, we get a flat of strawberries. She is more than happy because the strawberries are excellent.

Ever since then, we have been helping the past three weeks with different folks and their strawberry needs. Speaking of which, the strawberry ice cream (with and without mini chocolate chips) was delicious. Shortcake, cake, and other lovely things smothered in strawberry goodness!

I found out there are plenty of varieties. So far the top one for me is Honeyoye. It has a great strawberry flavor and a smooth finish. Mix it in with some sweeter berries and you have a naturally sweet strawberry sauce that doesn't need much, if any, sweetener. I think I'll try it this week with the new batch. :)

Anyway, I have been quite busy the past week, but I hope to focus more on Feline Dreamers and get back to a regular schedule.
