Single Tax

So I have been reading up on some ideas for changing how things work in this country (and everywhere for that matter).

My brother, psuche, and I disagree to some degree on the "how" and the "what" in a lot of instances and I believe I have found the reconciliation.

It is a single tax that was created by a man named Henry George. You can find some more information about him and the work that I am reading "Progress & Poverty" at these sites:

http://www.taxreform.com.au/HG/main.htm
http://www.henrygeorgeschool.org/whowashg.htm

So far it seems like the right direction and reconciles the legal private property of industry vs the illegal taking of private property of the people and the community.

I will let you know more when I know more. Just thought I would bring it to the world's attention.

Well, my wee little world's attention. :P

i say a much better way to cut down to 4 % would be police & fire & medical & education & roads & 'parks & services'. military should be armed militia of every adult american. and if there were only 2 things i could choose it wold be fire & education, without education being free to all no one can ever be free.

a more comprehensive break down:
Military:19.6%
veterans:2.6%
social security:21.4%
medicare:11.7%
medicaid:7.9%
other health:2.6%
social welfare(includes corporate welfare):8.4%
interest:6.7%
retirement, disability, unemployment:6.2%
transportation:2.9%
other:6.2
education, training, social services:3.8%

so you see psuche, you don't pay jack for education & with everything you get waht you pay for, an ignorant country that is reverting to a fundamentalist religous view point, voted for by the ignorant to restrict your rights because they are to UNEDUCATED to make a rational decision

I agree with dehuman8. Education is certainly not something this country needs any less of. As someone who's received a fairly decent public education, I'm thankful that its funding was not in the hands of voluntary donors.
