When I have a joy-filled day, I love to remember it and mark it as an occasion. Then I realize that if I focus just on that moment, all the other beautiful moments slip on by. The same is true when I focus on my past anger, pain, resentment, or worry. Whenever I forget myself and the present moment, I just disappear and whatever I’m focused on takes over.
One of the techniques I use is mindfulness. Relax into the now, focused on how your body feels, your breathing, your environment, the temperature, the other people in the room, the cars, books, cats, and dogs, or whatever is happening in your present moment. Right now I am sitting still after a nice day of beach walking, on a “marble beach” as Starcat calls it. We had a fun time.
Oops, there I go again!
Being in the moment can be a challenge sometimes. Just remember that you are doing the best you can. Relax and be where you are right now, no matter the situation. The ego doesn’t have any power over you, especially when you can call it out at its own game. When you notice the ego ready to go for another round, it loses all its steam immediately, and you appear once again into the present moment.
Enjoy yourself!
