Deck the Halls

Tonight is my traditional tree-trimming with my Mom. This time we will also be accompanied by Starcat and the kids. I anticipate a joyous and fun-filled time!

We usually start off with playing the John Denver and the Muppets Christmas music and singing along to the 12 Days of Christmas (Fiiiiiiive Gooooooo-ooooold Riiiiiiings, ba-dum bum bum). We then begin by putting up ornaments from when I was a kid, some of which I made. We then do a dinner and a Christmas movie. This year will be "A Christmas Carol" from the 1950s, starring Alastair Sim.

I really enjoy the Christmas season and I am thankful for having such a long-standing tradition with my Mom. We both enjoy each others' company and we have a fun time reminiscing about old holidays and stories about the ornaments. We also play with her kitties, if they decide to come out and join us.

What I like most about this year is that I get to share this experience with the rest of my family. I hope they get as much fun and joy out of it as I do. I know that I will be glad to have them come along and experience decorating like I did when I was a kid. Plus it will be fun to have a Muppet sing-along as well!

And on a side note: this is the 30th day of the 30 day challenge that Starcat and I have set for ourselves to blog each day! As we go forward, we plan to continue to blog regularly as well as set up another writing challenge on our other projects. Wish us luck!
